Why do people refer to 'flavours' of shampoo/shower gel/soap?! You can't eat them! I'm from the UK, BTW

Loads of people I know do it and it annoys the hell out of me!

What's the correct term for a type of shampoo/shower gel/soap? I'm sure it's not flavour! Why do people refer to 'flavours' of shampoo/shower gel/soap?! You can't eat them! I'm from the UK, BTW
OMG!!! NO WAYY?!!! You dont eat your shampoo, shower gel, or soap?!?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! I always eat mine. :] I prefer herbal essences the kind with the fruity flavor. Oh man the taste is TO DIE FOR!!!Why do people refer to 'flavours' of shampoo/shower gel/soap?! You can't eat them! I'm from the UK, BTW
I always say ';scents';
I always refer to it as ';scent'; as in what scent does it have..never heard of somebody saying what flavor when it comes to shampoo/soap..is that a UK thing maybe?

I'm from the USA
I don't know about you, but I do enjoy eating shampoo. If it wasnt meant to be eaten, why would they put it in grociery stores?
I'd say scent is the correct term.
I have never heard anyone refer to it that way.
Fragrance is more appropriate.
I usually say 'what kind?' or 'what type?'

Flavour sounds odd. x3
Fragrance is probably the correct term. I say flavour as a joke because they're often edible fragrances like strawberry, but obviously you cant eat them!
it must be the lazy way of saying aroma.
I'd say scent, but I know many people who say flavor (in the U.S. sorry if that's not helpful in the UK!!)

I think its because the flavors smell so good they remind people of food. We have a lot of fruit scented shampoo. But I don't know anyone who has tasted it.
i know what you mean,

i never usualy like things like tha tmyself, although im partial to coconut cremes etc, i love that smell

and i used to have a choc flavoured lip gloss, and loved the smell of that too

but im not big on it if you cant taste it it seems pointless,

but at least it makes them smell nice,

bumps up teh price tho, thats prob why they do it to a lot now

i presumme its not meant to be eaten, so putting in flavour or anything suggesting tasteing it is a tad over the top,

smell/scent and flavour are all used to describe it but i think it basically just means teh chemicals that made the smell and what it smells like
